Post-Beauty Treatments.
Waxing post-care.
Schedule your next appointment before leaving to maintain results. Avoid sun, tanning beds, and sunblock application for 24 hours post-waxing.
Wait 48 hours before exfoliating daily to reduce ingrown hairs. If an infected ingrown hair develops, apply hydrogen peroxide with a cotton swab. Avoid picking, which causes scarring.
"Avoid sun, exercise, pools, hot tubs, saunas, or anything that will raise your core body temperature and cause you to sweat for 48 hours."
Facial post-care.
Expect potential breakouts in the hours or days following treatment due to impurities surfacing. Flushing and redness from increased circulation are normal. Some skin types experience dryness, particularly around the nose and mouth.
Skip additional exfoliation and AHA/BHA products for several days. Stay out of sun and tanning beds; wear SPF. Avoid picking to prevent scarring and hyperpigmentation.
Rest your skin from workouts, saunas, steam rooms, and makeup application when possible.
Chemical peel post-care.
Contraindications: Herpes history requires Valtrex pre-medication. Active cold sores or warts, wounds, sunburns, excessively sensitive skin, healing problems, dermatitis, or inflammatory rosacea in the treated area disqualify candidates. Allergy to salicylates (e.g., aspirin), Accutane in the past year, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, pregnancy, or breastfeeding all contraindicate treatment.
Pre-care: one week before your peel
- Avoid electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and direct sun exposure
- Stop exfoliating products that may dry or irritate (salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, glycolic acid)
Pre-care: three days before your peel
- Stop Tri-Retinol Complex, Retin-A, Renova, Differin (Adapalene 0.1%), and any products containing Retinol, AHA/BHA, or benzoyl peroxide
What to expect
Expect a stinging sensation as the peel activates. Skin may appear light yellow immediately after — this fades within 1–2 hours. Peeling typically begins ~48 hours post-treatment and lasts several days. Recovery looks like a sunburn — redness lasts 3–5 days.
Post-treatment / prescriptive care
- Leave the finishing solution on until bedtime for best results
- Rinse skin gently with water only — pat dry, do not rub
- Do not pick or pull at peeling skin — picking causes scarring and hyperpigmentation
- Avoid harsh cleansers or washcloths for 3–7 days
- If you're sun-sensitive, take extra precautions immediately following the procedure
- No other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks after your peel
Daily skincare routine after a peel
- Use a gentle, non-soap cleanser (we recommend Obagi Gentle Cleanser, available at Flawless Faces)
- No exfoliating scrubs for at least one week
- Apply Aquaphor twice per day (or as often as needed) to relieve dryness and tightness
- Use SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sunlight for at least one week
- Resume retinol, AHA, or bleaching products only after peeling completes
- Warning signs: severe redness, swelling, blistering, burns, ulcers, pain, or signs of infection — call us immediately
Follow-up recommendations
One to two weeks after your peel, we recommend a facial to remove existing peeling skin and deeply hydrate. Continue gentle care, avoid vigorous scrubbing, and skip facial treatments until the skin is no longer sensitive. You may resume retinol products within ~10 days of your peel.
